The standard 2.3L EcoBoost inline four-cylinder (I4) engine makes 270 horsepower and the 2.7L EcoBoost V6 boosts your available muscle with 315 horsepower. For the ultimate Ranger engine, pick the Raptor® trim — it’s outfitted for off-road prowess with a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 engine that makes 405 horsepower. Maximum towing capacity with the 2.3L and 2.7L engines tops out at 7,500 pounds, while the 3.0L engine of the Ranger Raptor is rated to tow up to 5,510 pounds.

All three engines send their power through a ten-speed automatic transmission. Standard selectable drive modes to customize the traction and handling dynamics of the Ranger include normal, sport, slippery, eco, and tow/haul. The Raptor adds off-road, Baja, and rock crawl modes. With its placement in the Raptor trim, the 3.0L engine is exclusively paired with a 4x4 drivetrain. On the other hand, the 2.3L and 2.7L engines are offered with either a 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrain.
